003 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST003SO is an AS568-003 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 0.056 in (1.42 mm), a cross section of 0.06 in (1.52 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.176 in (4.47 mm). A back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

This material stands up to strong acids and bases, solvents, and oxidizing media. PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
