005 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST005SO is an AS568-005 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 0.101 in (2.57 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.241 in (6.12 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature.
