006 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST006SO is an AS568-006 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.114 in (2.9 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.254 in (6.45 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

This material stands up to strong acids and bases, oxidizing media, and steam. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.
