009 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-009 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 0.208 in (5.28 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.348 in (8.84 mm), catalogued under part number TST009SO. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The material holds up against oxidizing media, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
