017 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST017SO is an AS568-017 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.676 in (17.17 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.816 in (20.73 mm). A back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for near-universal chemical inertness and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against steam, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery.
