102 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-102 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 0.049 in (1.24 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.255 in (6.48 mm), catalogued under part number TST102SO. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is valued for near-universal chemical inertness and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The material holds up against solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C).
