As a material, Buna-N (Nitrile) offers an economical choice for high-volume maintenance programs and the most widely specified general-purpose sealing elastomer. Expect good resistance to petroleum-based oils, many alcohols, and hydraulic fluids. It is not the right choice where ketones or strong acids are present.
