As a material, G.F.O. Packing offers controlled leakage that lubricates and cools the shaft, field-cuttable rings for fast, inexpensive repacking. The compound resists shaft wear, elevated temperature and pressure, and process media. Rated for service to approximately 550°F. It should not be specified for service in over-tightening of the gland or running dry without flush.

Typical settings include centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, valves and agitators, and mixers and rotary equipment.
