162 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-162 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 5.737 in (145.72 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 5.943 in (150.95 mm), catalogued under part number TST162SO. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, oxidizing media, and nearly all industrial chemicals. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature.
