The TST164SO is an AS568-164 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 6.237 in (158.42 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.443 in (163.65 mm). This back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is specified for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and near-universal chemical inertness. This material stands up to steam, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature.
