175 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Part number TST175SO is an AS568-175 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 8.987 in (228.27 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.193 in (233.5 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and oxidizing media. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
