176 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

AS568-176 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 9.237 in (234.62 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.443 in (239.85 mm). This back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The TST176SO is an AS568-176 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 9.237 in (234.62 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.443 in (239.85 mm). This back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Expect good resistance to oxidizing media, steam, and solvents. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Exposure to service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature will shorten service life.

Maintenance and OEM teams specify it across aggressive-media pipelines, semiconductor fabrication, and food and beverage.
