204 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-204 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 0.359 in (9.12 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.637 in (16.18 mm), catalogued under part number TST204SO. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) delivers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and solvents. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
