This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-030 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 1.614 in (41 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.754 in (44.55 mm), catalogued under part number TST030. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

The material holds up against nearly all industrial chemicals, solvents, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) offers excellent dielectric properties and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature.
