This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-036 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 2.364 in (60.05 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.504 in (63.6 mm), catalogued under part number TST036. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) offers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and steam. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals are present.

Typical settings include laboratory equipment, semiconductor fabrication, and aggressive-media pipelines.
