Part number TST043 is an AS568-043 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 3.489 in (88.62 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.629 in (92.18 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is valued for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and near-universal chemical inertness. Expect good resistance to steam, nearly all industrial chemicals, and oxidizing media. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.
