APG stocks the TST046, an AS568-046 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 4.239 in (107.67 mm), a cross section of 0.07 in (1.78 mm), and an outside diameter of 4.379 in (111.23 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) offers excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. The compound resists oxidizing media, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals.

Typical settings include pharmaceutical and biotech, laboratory equipment, and chemical processing.
