The TST105 is an AS568-105 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 0.143 in (3.63 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.349 in (8.86 mm). This back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

It resists steam, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. PTFE (Teflon) is specified for near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.

Typical settings include laboratory equipment, chemical processing, and food and beverage.
