Ordered as TST146, this is an AS568-146 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 2.612 in (66.34 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.818 in (71.58 mm). The back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

This material stands up to strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for near-universal chemical inertness and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).

It sees regular use in food and beverage, laboratory equipment, and chemical processing.
