This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-150 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 2.862 in (72.69 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.068 in (77.93 mm), catalogued under part number TST150. It installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The compound resists solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is valued for excellent dielectric properties and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service.

It sees regular use in aggressive-media pipelines, pharmaceutical and biotech, and food and beverage.
