TST151 is an AS568-151 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 2.987 in (75.87 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.193 in (81.1 mm). In service, this back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is specified for excellent dielectric properties and near-universal chemical inertness. The compound resists nearly all industrial chemicals, strong acids and bases, and oxidizing media. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.

Common environments for this compound include aggressive-media pipelines, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
