The TST153 is an AS568-153 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 3.487 in (88.57 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 3.693 in (93.8 mm). This back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. Expect good resistance to solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).

Common environments for this compound include aggressive-media pipelines, laboratory equipment, and semiconductor fabrication.
