This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-166 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 6.737 in (171.12 mm), a cross section of 0.103 in (2.62 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.943 in (176.35 mm), catalogued under part number TST166. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

It resists solvents, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).
