This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-273 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 9.734 in (247.24 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.012 in (254.3 mm), catalogued under part number TST273. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).
