APG stocks the TST282, an AS568-282 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring measuring an inside diameter of 15.955 in (405.26 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 16.233 in (412.32 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

This material stands up to steam, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. PTFE (Teflon) is valued for excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.

It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, chemical processing, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
