Part number TST310 is an AS568-310 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 0.475 in (12.07 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.895 in (22.73 mm). A back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

PTFE (Teflon) offers excellent dielectric properties and non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics. This material stands up to strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature call for a different compound.

Typical settings include aggressive-media pipelines, food and beverage, and laboratory equipment.
