This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-311 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 0.537 in (13.64 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.957 in (24.31 mm), catalogued under part number TST311. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and excellent dielectric properties. It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and oxidizing media. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
