AS568-372 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 8.725 in (221.62 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.145 in (232.28 mm). This back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

Ordered as TST372, this is an AS568-372 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 8.725 in (221.62 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.145 in (232.28 mm). The back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. The compound resists strong acids and bases, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
