This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-384 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D with an inside diameter of 14.975 in (380.37 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 15.395 in (391.03 mm), catalogued under part number TST384. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.
This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, solvents, and steam. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is valued for a very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
Typical settings include chemical processing, aggressive-media pipelines, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
Reference part number TST384 when ordering; the item is sold individually. Nominal inside diameter is listed as 15 inch. Review your operating media and conditions against this specification before installation. If you need a size, durometer or compound that is not listed, APG can cross-reference from a print, a sample or a competitor part number.
