Ordered as TST446, this is an AS568-446 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 8.475 in (215.27 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.025 in (229.24 mm). The back-up ring extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

The material holds up against steam, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C).

Typical settings include food and beverage, laboratory equipment, and chemical processing.
