Part number TST447 is an AS568-447 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 8.975 in (227.97 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 9.525 in (241.94 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

The material holds up against strong acids and bases, steam, and oxidizing media. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is specified for near-universal chemical inertness and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid.
