This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-468 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 19.455 in (494.16 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 20.005 in (508.13 mm), catalogued under part number TST468. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.
As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for excellent dielectric properties and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material holds up against nearly all industrial chemicals, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery are present.
Maintenance and OEM teams specify it across laboratory equipment, semiconductor fabrication, and pharmaceutical and biotech.
This item is sold individually under part number TST468. Confirm chemical compatibility, pressure and temperature against your own application requirements before installing. APG can cross-reference from an existing part number, a drawing or a physical sample if this size is not an exact match.
