This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-225 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 1.859 in (47.22 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.137 in (54.28 mm), catalogued under part number TST225SO. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) delivers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and near-universal chemical inertness. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.
