230 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

AS568-230 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 2.484 in (63.09 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.762 in (70.15 mm). This back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

The TST230SO is an AS568-230 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 2.484 in (63.09 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 2.762 in (70.15 mm). This back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

This material stands up to nearly all industrial chemicals, strong acids and bases, and steam. PTFE (Teflon) delivers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Verify compatibility before use with molten alkali metals or elemental fluorine at temperature.

Common environments for this compound include aggressive-media pipelines, pharmaceutical and biotech, and laboratory equipment.
