Ordered as 0282250, this is a black EPDM (EPR) 70 Shore A O-Ring Cord Stock supplied with a cross section of 0.25 in (6.35 mm). The o-ring cord stock supports field repair of oversized or non-standard sealing grooves without a special tooling charge.

It resists water and steam, dilute acids and alkalis, and ketones. That behavior comes from the compound itself: EPDM (EPR) offers outstanding weather, ozone and sunlight resistance, very good flexibility at low temperature. Applications involving mineral oil-based lubricants or petroleum oils and fuels call for a different compound.
