275 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-275 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D built to an inside diameter of 10.484 in (266.29 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 10.762 in (273.35 mm), catalogued under part number TST275SO. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) offers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid. The material holds up against solvents, nearly all industrial chemicals, and oxidizing media. The material carries a published service range of -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature are present.
