280 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-280 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 13.984 in (355.19 mm), a cross section of 0.139 in (3.53 mm), and an outside diameter of 14.262 in (362.25 mm), catalogued under part number TST280SO. It allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

PTFE (Teflon) offers one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and a very wide continuous service temperature range. Expect good resistance to solvents, steam, and oxidizing media. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.
