312 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

APG stocks the TST312SO, an AS568-312 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 0.6 in (15.24 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 1.02 in (25.91 mm). A back-up ring installs on the low-pressure side of an o-ring to prevent extrusion into the clearance gap at elevated pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is widely chosen for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and a very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against oxidizing media, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery are present.

It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, aggressive-media pipelines, and food and beverage.
