11790750-10 is a Carbon Filament/TFE Compression Packing supplied with a 3/4 inch square cross section. In service, this compression packing is cut into rings and stacked in a stuffing box, then compressed by the gland to seal a rotating or reciprocating shaft. The catalog record notes: 10 LB. Carbon Filament/TFE is specified here for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and very wide continuous service temperature range. The material holds up against solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Exposure to elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals will shorten service life.
