382 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-382 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D supplied with an inside diameter of 12.975 in (329.57 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 13.395 in (340.23 mm), catalogued under part number TST382SO. It bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

PTFE (Teflon) is specified here for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and very wide continuous service temperature range. Expect good resistance to strong acids and bases, nearly all industrial chemicals, and steam. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It should not be specified for service in elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery.
