386 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Ordered as TST386SO, this is an AS568-386 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 16.955 in (430.66 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 17.375 in (441.33 mm). The back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against oxidizing media, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) is known for near-universal chemical inertness and excellent dielectric properties. Published continuous service range is -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where service requiring elastic recovery or molten alkali metals are present.
