395 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

APG stocks the TST395SO, an AS568-395 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 25.94 in (658.88 mm), a cross section of 0.21 in (5.33 mm), and an outside diameter of 26.36 in (669.54 mm). A back-up ring allows a standard o-ring to operate at higher pressures than it could unsupported.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) offers non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. The compound resists solvents, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery call for a different compound.

It sees regular use in semiconductor fabrication, aggressive-media pipelines, and laboratory equipment.
