435 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

TST435SO is an AS568-435 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring supplied with an inside diameter of 5.725 in (145.42 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 6.275 in (159.39 mm). In service, this back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

The material holds up against strong acids and bases, steam, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is specified for one of the lowest coefficients of friction of any solid and near-universal chemical inertness. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). Applications involving elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals call for a different compound.

Typical settings include pharmaceutical and biotech, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
