454 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

APG stocks the TST454SO, an AS568-454 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 12.475 in (316.87 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 13.025 in (330.84 mm). A back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

Expect good resistance to steam, strong acids and bases, and nearly all industrial chemicals. PTFE (Teflon) is known for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. Service temperature is rated from -65°F (-53.9°C) through 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or service requiring elastic recovery are present.

It sees regular use in pharmaceutical and biotech, chemical processing, and semiconductor fabrication.
