471 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

The TST471SO is an AS568-471 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring built to an inside diameter of 21.955 in (557.66 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 22.505 in (571.63 mm). This back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is known for a very wide continuous service temperature range and excellent dielectric properties. The material holds up against steam, oxidizing media, and strong acids and bases. Rated temperature range runs from -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C) in continuous service. It should not be specified for service in service requiring elastic recovery or elemental fluorine at temperature.

It sees regular use in laboratory equipment, food and beverage, and semiconductor fabrication.
