472 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

Ordered as TST472SO, this is an AS568-472 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D Back-Up Ring with an inside diameter of 22.94 in (582.68 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 23.49 in (596.65 mm). The back-up ring bridges the extrusion gap so the primary seal holds its shape under load.

It resists nearly all industrial chemicals, steam, and oxidizing media. That behavior comes from the compound itself: PTFE (Teflon) offers a very wide continuous service temperature range and near-universal chemical inertness. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). It is not the right choice where elemental fluorine at temperature or molten alkali metals are present.
