475 PTFE SOLID BACKUP RING FDA

This back-up ring is supplied in AS568-475 white PTFE (Teflon) 55 Shore D measuring an inside diameter of 25.94 in (658.88 mm), a cross section of 0.275 in (6.99 mm), and an outside diameter of 26.49 in (672.85 mm), catalogued under part number TST475SO. It extends o-ring service life by supporting the seal against extrusion under high pressure.

As a material, PTFE (Teflon) is valued for non-stick, non-contaminating surface characteristics and excellent dielectric properties. Expect good resistance to steam, solvents, and nearly all industrial chemicals. Continuous operating temperature is published at -65°F (-53.9°C) to 500°F (260°C). Exposure to molten alkali metals or service requiring elastic recovery will shorten service life.
