Viton® (FKM) is specified here for excellent resistance to compression set and permeation, industry benchmark where nitrile reaches its thermal limit. The material holds up against engine and transmission fluids, aggressive chemicals, and many acids. Applications involving low-molecular-weight organic acids or ketones and esters call for a different compound.
