This quad-ring is supplied in AS568-003 black Viton® (FKM) 70 Shore A with an inside diameter of 0.056 in (1.42 mm), a cross section of 0.06 in (1.52 mm), and an outside diameter of 0.176 in (4.47 mm), catalogued under part number SV70003. It resists spiral failure in reciprocating service thanks to its multi-lobe geometry.

It resists many acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and chlorinated solvents. That behavior comes from the compound itself: Viton® (FKM) is widely chosen for very low compression set at elevated temperature and long service life in hot, chemically aggressive environments. Rated temperature range runs from -15°F (-26.1°C) to 400°F (204.4°C) in continuous service. Applications involving hot water and steam or ketones and esters call for a different compound.
