The compound resists ozone and weathering, heat and oxidation, and petroleum oils and fuels. That behavior comes from the compound itself: HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile) is specified for improved ozone and weathering resistance over standard nitrile, the oil resistance of nitrile with substantially better heat capability. The material carries a published service range of -40°F (-40°C) to 325°F (162.8°C). It is not the right choice where strong oxidizing acids or chlorinated hydrocarbons are present.
